Candied Yams

This recipe came from Mom and is one of my favorites. I don’t usually like yams, but these are good.

Serves: 6-8

5 medium yams
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup water
5 Tbls. butter
½ tsp. Cinnamon
½ - 1 tsp. Salt

Bake the potatoes yams with skins on till until barely tender. Cool to touch; peel and slice into ¼ inch slices. Layer in a greased(?) casserole dish. Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour over the potatoes and bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
