1 package yeast
2 Tbls. Warm water
5 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 Tbls. Baking powder
1 tsp. each: baking soda, salt
1 cup oil
2 cups buttermilk
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives uhntil flour forms soft pea-size chunks. Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate 2 hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Roll or pat dough to ½-inch thickness on well-floured surface. Cut biscuits with 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
